The loudest ovation at the awards ceremony was heard when James Ramsey was announced. In 1999, the Detroit resident was the only American man over 87 years old to finish a 10-mile road race. His times at the ages of 90, 91 and 92 were national records. He was 93 when he raced in 2001.
