Race started as “half a Crim"
It seemed like a good idea in 1987 – offer a “Crim Half-Miler,” a race half the distance of the 10-Mile Road Race star. The first race drew 1,110 runners, who took off before the 10-milers did. The route was enclosed within the regular 10-miler.
Just a year later, the race was officially shortened and became the Crim 8K. Since five-miles equals 8.046 72 kilometers, most participants didn’t notice a thing.
The number of runners has varied, drawing 910 in 2004 and 776 in 2005.
The 2006 run will begin at 9:30 a.m.
