Bobby Crim and Lois Craig connection

Bobby Crim and Lois Craig met in 1963 when both took temporary mail-sorting jobs to earn extra cash at Christmas.

Crim was a Davison City Council member and teacher at Flint’s McKinley Junior High, and Craig was married to the president of a a small UAW local.

They sorted letters together midnight to 6 a.m., a shift giving them lots of times to talk. Crim had political aspirations, and Craig was already an activitist in the Democratic Party.

In early 1964, Crim asked her to work on his campaign for the House, which he won. He lost the next race, but returned to the legislature in 1972.

Craig, now divorced, joined the house Democratic research staff in 1976, which allowed her to work closely with Crim. In 1977, she became his administratve assistant. That led to her involvement with the first Crim 10-mile road race.
